The ELL 2 Teen Literacy Library is a unique collection of fiction and nonfiction books aimed at high school and adult English language learners, including newcomers. Many of these learners struggle with reading and a limited English vocabulary. This makes it difficult to do well in content-area classes where textbooks are often written above grade level. For this reason, the ELL 2 Teen Literacy Library focuses on arts, financial literacy, health and wellness, science, and world history topics in books written at accessible levels. Each engaging fiction and nonfiction book features age-respectful storylines and full-color photographs on every page to support beginning readers at the secondary level.

Through a hand-me-down traditional Mayan skirt, Emilia takes flight and sees her neighbourhood in a new way, embracing her Guatemalan culture and letting her personality shine through her shyness. Emilia would rather play with her kite alone than go to birthday parties, pick up beans for her mom's frijoles dinner, or wear her mom's old corte into town where everyone can see her. With a gust of wind, Emilia's corte takes flight, and she sees what it's like to miss out on celebrating with friends, dancing to the marimba at the park, and being brave enough to ask for her favourite cookie, champurradas.
Even though her family calls her Emma Bemma, Emma knows she is really a dilEmma. The middle kid between her two brothers, whom everyone calls Big and Little, Emma is just Medium. Big thinks he's the coolest kid on the planet now that he's ten. He doesn't want to play with LEGOs, or play anything with Emma anymore. And everyone thinks Little is adorable, even when he picks his nose and eats it! Sometimes Emma feels like the only one who understands her is her Japanese fighting fish, Star, whose tank is stuck in the middle of his two brothers. And as usual, Emma has to ride in the middle seat as her family heads out on a weeklong beach vacation with friends, where being just medium will only get worse! Then Emma has an idea. What if she could get out of being in the middle by taking on a new role? What if she acted BIG? Will things go as planned? Or will she have another huge dilEmma?
